It was all looking a bit cold and pointless, but when I went outside to feed the kids' pet rabbit I realised how warm it was, so rushed to get going. Dusted off my windsurf gear in the garage, which was hosting a party for most of the animal cast of the film Arachnophobia. Went to put my booms in the car and saw that my mate had also made off with all the windsurf kit in the boot - fins, wetsuits, mast extensions. A quick call to him to explain what would happen if the goods weren't returned within 5 minutes got me sorted again, but I don't think a non-windsurfer is quite prepared for the mood swings of a windsurfer denied his fix on a windy day.

Got halfway to the beach to receive a call from PaulP saying don't bother, but I'd started so I'd finish and 10 minutes later I was at Pevensey to find usurf packing up his 4.7 and Krafty looking grateful of some company.

Went to get my board out of its bag and a half eaten conker fell out with it, which wasn't a good sign. More like a sign of rodent activity, so very warily opened my sail quiverbag to find more evidence of mouse. Sh*t, I thought I'd got a repeat of a few years ago with Rodentgate. Thankfully, they'd just had a nibble of my 5.0 sailbag, but everything else ok - I think. Rigged big (5.7) and had to swim out a short way to the windline through an increasingly nasty shoredump. Then had a fairly decent 3/4 hour blatting around. The sun even showed itself a couple of times. Well worth the effort, but not exactly inspiring sailing and not a very long session either. Not too cold, but the downwind current was a pain. It was fine most of the time, but one extended lull knocked me down a bit and although I made a bit of ground back I counted my losses (4 groynes) and headed into the mean shorebreak and walked back. Remarkably sensible for me, as I usually overcook it and sail too long.

My god it feels good to be back at it again. I thought I was never going to windsurf again.
